All You Need to Know

  • Does your practice support breastfeeding mothers?

Yes, we promote breastfeeding. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends breastfeeding babies for the first six to twelve months. Breastfeeding helps defend children against infections, prevents allergies, and protects against a number of chronic conditions. While experts believe that breast milk is the best nutritional choice for infants, breastfeeding may not be possible for all women.

Some women have specific medical considerations that impede breastfeeding; others choose to feed by formula because of discomfort, work schedule, or lifestyle choices. In these cases, an iron-fortified, milk-based infant formula is a good alternative. We will gladly discuss your diet and feeding concerns at your child's well care visit, or please call during office hours to speak with our experienced nursing staff.

  • Can I meet my pediatrician before my baby is born?

Yes, in fact we strongly encourage parents-to-be to visit our office for a prenatal appointment. This is a great way to get acquainted with our office and our doctors. During this visit, we will answer any questions that you have about our practice or your new child. Visit our expectant parent's page for more information.

  • Are you accepting new patients?

    Yes, we welcome new patients.
  • Do you accept my health insurance plan?

Advocare participates with most major insurance plans. As participation varies by region, specialty, and physician, we recommend that you contact our office to verify that your insurance plan is accepted.
  • Do I need to obtain a referral prior to making an appointment?

Our office does not usually require referrals, but many insurance providers will only cover specialist visits with a prior referral from your primary care physician. Please check with your insurance company to determine whether a referral is required.
  • How do we contact the doctor after hours?

After hours, call the office at (856) 772-2300 and our answering service will page the provider on call. Please be aware that after-hours calls are intended for urgent medical issues that cannot wait until the next business day. Calls are typically returned within 20 minutes. Please call back if you have not received a timely response.

IN THE EVENT OF A LIFE THREATENING EMERGENCY, CALL 911.
  • When will I receive lab or test results?

We make every effort to contact our patients whenever lab and test results become available. Most pap and biopsy results may take up to two weeks to return. Please contact our office if you have not heard from our staff regarding your results.
  • What hospitals are you affiliated with for surgical and obstetrical care?

We are affiliated with Virtua Voorhees for both OB and surgical care and Jefferson Washington Township and Cherry Hill for surgical care.
  • Can I email the providers if I am having a medical problem?

We ask that you please contact us via the main office telephone number: (856) 772-2300 for all medical concerns.
  • How long does it take for medical forms such as disability paperwork, referrals or pre-certifications to be completed?

Please allow up to five business days for your paperwork to be completed.
  • How many providers do you have at your practice?

We have seven providers, including two Ob Gyn physicians, three certified nurse midwives and two advanced nurse practitioners, specializing in women's health. All providers provide obstetrical and gynecological services.
  • Do you provide high-risk obstetrical services?

Yes, we are experienced in high-risk obstetrical services. When necessary, we collaborate with specialists in Maternal Fetal Medicine to coordinate your care.
  • What days are you open?

Our office is open Monday through Friday.

  • How do I make an appointment?

To make an appointment please call our office. To ensure the best use of time, for both our physicians and patients, all of our office visits are by appointment only. For new patients, we ask that you arrive at our office 30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time. For existing patients, we ask that you arrive 15 minuts prior to your scheduled appointment time. This will allow you to complete any necessary paperwork and to update any demographic and insurance changes. If you must cancel an appointment, please notify us as soon as possible so we can offer that time to someone else.

Emergencies arise. We will advise you if there is going to be a delay in seeing you. If your schedule won't allow you to wait, we will be happy to reschedule your appointment. We do appreciate your patience and cooperation during our busy times and we will make every effort to keep your wait time to a minimum.

  • How do I obtain a prescription refill?

Please call our office and follow the prompts for our prescription refill line. Allow one business day for all routine prescription refills. For prescriptions that require prior authorization from your insurance company, please plan ahead to allow at least three to five days for refill approval.
